Flower from Wisley

We went to Wisley gardens the other week because they had a special offer of £1 entry.  They had a massive greenhouse with a lot of very pretty flowers.  It had the 150mm and 50mm macros with me but ended up using the 50mm the most because you could get so close to the plants and was a more useful focal length generally.  It’s definitely the best lens purchase I’ve made in some time, I wont be getting rid of it any time soon.

This photo above is one of my all time favourites.  Using the 50mm at 1:1 magnification it’s wonderfully sharp where it’s in focus and looks like a painting in the out of focus areas.  I even got it printed on a canvas for my mum for mothers day.  I haven’t seen it in the flesh yet but it looks good from the photos she’s sent me of it.
